The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) has introduced several important updates in 2026 to enhance the testing experience and ensure greater accuracy in evaluating English language proficiency. One of the most notable changes is the implementation of a pen-only policy for paper-based tests, effective 2026, requiring all candidates to write answers using pens instead of pencils. This move aims to reduce smudging and improve the clarity of scanned answer sheets. Additionally, the test content and format have seen refinements across all modules. The Listening section now features improved audio clarity and adaptive question levels powered by AI. In the Reading module, texts now include more real-life documents such as emails and reports. The Writing section has been updated with more structured and practical prompts, while the Speaking test is now designed to reflect modern communication trends. Exam fees 18000 it will be increased to 19000 by 2026.
